The University of Texas Health Science Centre -The Children's Learning Institute (CLI) invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position. Successful candidates will have expertise in individual learning needs of children and adolescents. This includes researchers whose work focuses on bilingualism, bilingual literacy and language acquisition. Candidates should have an established record of methodologically rigorous research as well as success in or potential for obtaining extramural funding. This position is a 12-month position with an initial appointment of 3 years. When grants and contracts offset salary, this package can provide protected salary coverage in later years. Continuation of this appointment is contingent upon the availability of funding, Institute needs, and satisfactory performance in the position. Duties include research and service with the option of clinical collaboration with the Dan L. Duncan Neurodevelopmental Clinic. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
-Serving as the bilingual expert for ongoing research projects (including research studies and technical assistance projects). -Providing expertise in instruction, services and assessment of academic and behavioral skills of English language learners (ELL), Dual language learners (DLL). Primary emphasis will initially be early childhood through elementary school, but later may include older children. -Addressing bilingualism in classroom and/or home settings. This may involve learning performance in specific instructional areas or more general competencies essential for academic success. -Providing expertise for educators, administrators, researchers, and curriculum developers on working in bilingual settings. -Researching and publishing in top-tier journals by assuming a leadership role in developing an independent research program as well as building collaborative projects with existing faculty members. -Working collaboratively with faculty at CLI to write grants and secure funding to carry out the research mission of CLI. -Participating in post-doctoral training opportunities. -Contributing to the University's research and teaching mission.
Candidate must have a A Ph.D. in Education, Psychology, Speech and Language, or a related field.
