The Dan L Duncan Children’s Neurodevelopmental Clinic invites applications for a clinical child psychologist to work with a team of psychologists, developmental pediatricians, and educators. The Clinic is part of The Children's Learning Institute (CLI) in the Department of Pediatrics at the McGovern Medical School, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. In collaboration with our Academic Enrichment and Outreach Program, we are developing signature programs to address both cognitive and behavioral difficulties experienced by children with ADHD and related conditions. Applicants should have strong interest in cognitive behavioral therapy with children with anxiety and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and expertise working with parents. Candidates with interest in developing evidence-based intervention programs for children with ADHD are preferred. Prospective candidates should be licensed in Texas, have a doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited program, and have completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship. The CLI has strong, well-established research to practice clinical and research programs in areas of child development and children’s academic and health outcomes. Ph.D. (or equivalent: Psy.D or Ed.D or related Doctoral degree) with major course work in clinical psychology or counseling psychology. Certification or specialized training in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing preferred.
Three (3) years direct clinical counseling experience in a similar Student Counseling, EAP or other direct service clinical environment. Past experience in Psychological Testing preferred. Bilingual a plus.
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
