The Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools (CYFS) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is pleased to offer a one-year post-doctoral research fellowship beginning August 1, 2017, with the possibility of an extension for a second year, in the area of statistical approaches and research methods for the educational and social-behavioral sciences. The purpose of this fellowship is to promote the development and application of advanced statistical techniques and methodological approaches to support the conduct of methodologically-rigorous research on educational and behavioral interventions.
Purpose of Fellowship
The primary responsibility of this fellowship will be to engage with research teams in CYFS and provide methodological and analytic support (e.g., multilevel and longitudinal modeling, structural equation modeling, item response theory, etc.) to longitudinal educational intervention projects focused on parent-child relationships, teacher-parent partnerships and child learning during the preschool and early elementary period. The fellow will support and contribute to high-quality, rigorous research analyses that advance the knowledge base in ways that inform educational policy and practice.
Brief Description of Fellowship
Throughout the fellowship, the fellow will work closely with lead investigators and research teams within CYFS. Training of the fellow will occur in the context of a program that provides (a) mentorship in professional development, independent writing, and grant development; and (b) immersion in largescale, federally-funded educational research interventions. The fellow will be expected to contribute to advanced analyses of educational intervention data culminating in publications and presentations, addressing questions with relevance to both methodological theory and educational practice. An Individualized Development Plan with benchmarks and products (e.g., publications, grant projects, presentations) will be constructed with the fellow within the first month of residence.
