Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital invites you to apply to be a Program Specialist in our first-of-its-kind, psychiatric inpatient program for young people - Polaris.
THE POLARIS PROGRAM is an acute care, 18-bed specialty unit within Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital which serves young people who might be struggling with an aspect of their gender and/or sexual identity. Polaris provides a safe place where gender and sexual minority adolescents can receive affirming inpatient psychiatric care and help navigate their identity(s).
JOB SUMMARY: The Program Specialist (PS) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, and activities of daily living. The PS is additionally responsible for the programming schedule for young people in the Polaris Program and also supervises the unit's Mental Health Specialists.
