Â Mental Health Technician
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) works directly with patients to assist them succeed in the milieu program and ensure the patientâ€™s safety while on the unit, at school or participating in an activity.Â MHTs have the primary responsibility for running groups on the unit and for ensuring that the daily schedule is followed.
Â Essential JobDuties:
Assists and monitors residents with daily living activities. Consistently demonstrates an alert, sensitive and supportive attitude with residents, families, employees, and management.
Interacts therapeutically with residents in one-to-one situations, community and group meetings.
Acts as residents advocate ensuring that the resident rights, as well as confidentiality, are maintained.
Has a basic understanding of Common Psychiatric Diagnoses. Can recognize behaviors associated with and uses proper intervention techniques for Common Psychiatric Diagnoses
Evaluates and demonstrates knowledge and understanding of age-specific behaviors, motor skills and psychological norms.
