Assistant/Associate Professor, Human Development and Family Science
The Department of Human Sciences in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track position as Assistant/Associate Professor in Human Development and Family Science with an emphasis in early childhood development to complement and extend our existing expertise and contribute to our program. We seek a faculty member with demonstrated teaching excellence, potential for a strong program of research and involvement in external funding (commensurate with rank), and a focus on the development of young children (ages 0-5) in educational, family, and/or community contexts. This position will begin in August of 2019. Our Human Development and Family Science program trains graduate and undergraduate students in human development and behavior from multiple disciplinary perspectives and across several contexts, including families and neighborhoods.

The candidate is expected to conduct an active and focused program of scholarship; conduct and publish peer-reviewed research; obtain external funding to support research; teach current and new graduate and undergraduate courses in human development and family science; mentor master’s and doctoral students; and participate in Department, College, and professional service activities.
Qualifications: At the time of appointment, candidates are required to have a doctorate in human development and family science or a closely related field. Successful candidates must have a commitment to interdisciplinary research in early childhood. Candidates must have a record of research-based publications commensurate with the rank of assistant or associate professor at the Ohio State University and a commitment to quality teaching and mentorship. College teaching experience is preferred. Candidates should have a record of, or strong potential for, extramural funding commensurate with rank. The Department seeks candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
