Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital is an 86 bed inpatient psychiatric hospital in Panama City, Florida which provides treatment options to children, adolescents, adults, active duty service members and their families, and Veterans. The Mental Health Technician and Security functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in age from adolescent through geriatrics depending on which unit worked. The Security and Mental Health Technician works under the direct supervision of a RN, LPN or Therapist.
The Mental Health Technician and Security ensures the safety and security of the hospital buildings and grounds, its patients, staff and guests. Promptly contacts appropriate individual with notification of security problems.
Provides hands-on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, & behavior modification, employing appropriate verbal and crisis intervention techniques.
Act as liaison between family, department, referral sources, agencies, schools and other interested parties.
Conducts telephone triage activities and related paperwork.
Checks patients for contraband and manage patient belongings.
Maintains professional therapeutic boundaries with patients and families.
