Associate/Full Professor in Social, Behavioral, Educational (SBEd) Research. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) seeks applicants for a research-focused tenured or tenure-leading Associate or Full Professor in social, behavioral, and educational sciences. The Associate/Full Professor will be jointly appointed in the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools (CYFS) and an academic department within the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) as negotiated with the successful candidate.
Expertise in early childhood education and development, applied developmental psychology, and/or intervention/prevention programming for children aged birth to 8 years, is highly desired. Specific areas of interest may include prevention or intervention strategies that address behavioral, academic, or mental health in young children; physical health and nutrition; social-emotional development, including self-regulation and executive function; early learning (language/literacy, STEM) or learning challenges; ecological systems supporting early learning and development (such as families, classrooms, schools, communities, policies); neurological/biological correlates of learning and behavior; family intervention, engagement, and partnership; father involvement; home visitation programs; child and family policy; or disparities in access and outcomes for disadvantaged populations. Expertise in applied intervention research methods is highly desirable.

Required qualifications and experiences include: a) a completed doctorate in social, behavioral or educational sciences (e.g., human development, early childhood education, family science, special education, nutrition, educational psychology, school psychology, clinical psychology, neuropsychology); b) clear evidence of research funding and productivity, including a significant portfolio of federally funded research and a consistent, well-established publication record; and c) evidence of research collaboration with individuals within and across disciplines.
Preferred qualifications include the ability to: a) integrate one’s own research with the mission of CYFS and with other researchers; b) form or support the development of new interdisciplinary research teams; c) lead researchers in grant writing and scholarship; d) provide mentorship to early stage and mid-career investigators; e) incorporate diverse perspectives into research and scholarship; and f) work with students and groups from underrepresented backgrounds.
The successful candidate will: a) lead an active line of funded research in an area consistent with one or more of the research strengths listed above; b) participate actively on interdisciplinary research teams that extend basic or applied research related to children, youth, families and schools; c) write grants and secure funding for new research; d) contribute to the scholarly literature through the publication of refereed journal articles, books and book chapters, and related technical products, as well as through nontraditional means in cooperation with the CYFS communications team; e) support research development efforts among faculty affiliates, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate student researchers/research assistants in CYFS; f) assume negotiated functions within the academic department/tenure home (e.g., selected teaching, advising); and g) contribute generally to the mission and ongoing research initiatives of CYFS and CEHS.
