Position: Clinical Assistant Professor in Child and Family Studies, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences

Anticipated Date of Appointment:  August 2020

Qualifications: Outstanding candidates are invited to apply for a clinical faculty position in Child and Family Studies. Candidates for the clinical position must have earned a Master’s degree or higher in Child Development, Child Life, Family Studies or a related field; and must have strong teaching skills in child development and family studies. Supervision of undergraduate students, collaborations with health-related agencies, certification in Child Life, and active participation in organizations supporting Child Life professionals are essential for performing clinical program supervision. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students, exemplifying strong communication and interpersonal skills. The following are desirable qualifications for the job: Ph.D. in Child Development, Child Life, Family Studies, or closely related field; evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education; supervision of students in a clinical setting; and professional experience in the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities:  Responsibilities of the individual who holds this position will include teaching undergraduate courses in subjects such as child development, child life, and family studies. These courses support the undergraduate degree in Child and Family Studies. Mentoring of students in professional development will be expected, in addition to supervising clinical placements and practica. This individual will engage in scholarly activities related to the field, participate in relevant professional activities, and provide service to the university, community and profession.Lastly, this individual will work closely with area hospitals, health agencies and child life specialists ensuring that education experiences offered in the Child and Family Studies degree plan transfer knowledge, skills and competencies required by Baylor students for entry into clinical practica, internships, and professions.

Salary & Review Date: Competitive salary offer will be commensurate with experience and qualification. Review of applications will commence on November 30, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.
