JOB TITLE: Respiratory Therapist Registered LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT: Respiratory Therapy WORK SCHEDULE: Days/Nights WORK TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Assesses patients’ respiratory care needs based on a variety of data. Plans, organizes, performs and evaluates treatment modalities to meet those needs.
Performs all duties to the highest level of patient care and maximum patient satisfaction, in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
Works under the general direction of the RCS Leadership Team.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to interact professionally at all levels within and outside of the organization.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communications skills.
Demonstrated excellent organization and project management skills.
Requires three to six months of orientation to become familiar with the hospital and established procedures and to gain proficiency.
Understands and supports Geisinger Health System's vision and mission critical directives.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Requires graduate of a COARC accredited program in respiratory therapy with registry eligibility upon graduation. The registry eligible therapist will be required to attain registry within 6 months of anniversary date of employment. Certified upon hire. A therapist must also maintain CPR certification, achieve/attain ACLS, PALS Certification, S.T.A.B.L.E Program, Neonatal Resuscitation Program and participate in departmental in-service programs.
Must also maintain current PA State license and all mandatory NBRC credentials.
Must satisfy department orientation standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in a clinical environment. Heavy lifting and transporting equipment and/or patients, possibly in excess of 200 pounds, is involved in job duties.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
