HCWs shall receive notification two weeks prior to the reassignment to another location with a 40-mile commuting radius of their assigned MTF
Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: Quality Improvement meeting, professional staff meetings, Commander's staff meetings, Mental Health Flight meetings, and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by the Mental Health Flight Commander or his/her designated representative.
Conduct applied research and clinical investigations in clinical/behavioral health
Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Responsible for and applies psychological procedures and techniques, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, evidenced-based therapies, and psychological testing/psycho diagnostic testing, in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological The following are desirable skills: o Individual, family and group psychotherapy, and couples therapy, alcohol and drug treatment evaluations. o Consults with medical personnel, legal authorities, and military commanders as required. o Maintain accurate and current notes in the medical records of all patients seen, as appropriate, and produces reports of evaluation and/or treatment, as required.
Works independently in the absence of direct oversight and adheres to Air Force Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing and resolving professional issues.
Must be skillful and tactful in communicating with people who may be physically or mentally ill, uncooperative, fearful, emotionally distraught, and occasionally Must possess organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to articulate medical requirements to patients, families/care givers, medical and non-medical staff in a professional and courteous way.
Participates in team efforts to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical pathway programs needed in the clinic. Effectively manage a full daily patient load, as defined by the Mental Health Business Practice Standards
Training/Supervision of unlicensed mental health providers: Duties may include direct supervision of mental health providers who are in internship training and/or are not fully licensed. In addition, training/supervision in reference to day on-call responsibilities may involve faculty, staff, and residents from other disciplines.
Training duties may include participating in activities associated with the Clinical Psychology Residency such as didactics, faculty meetings, journal club, case Participates in military-specific training (e.g., use of the Air Force Guide for Suicide Risk Assessment, Management, and Treatment, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress, etc).
NOTE: Supervision means clinically-related supervision only and does not include inherently governmental supervisory duties, including, but not limited to, personnel and employment related activities, i.e., timecards or leave approval.
Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
Establish psychiatric diagnoses according to the American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Disorders.
Provide psychological treatment for individuals and groups; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
Assist in rehabilitation of patients.
The HCW as PLAY Project Consultant: Conduct interview intake sessions with parents/caregiver providing a supportive relationship and connecting families to additional services. Administer established assessments such as FEAS, CARS, Greenspan Social and Emotional Growth Chart and Reel. Develop PLAY program plan and curriculum for use by parents in the parent mediated approach and look for opportunities to apply techniques, principles, and methods. Conduct follow up assessments to document progress and prepare video and written feedback.
HCW will work in accordance to standard MTF operating hours 0730-1630).
Individual schedules will typically involve 5.5 clinical hours (initial, follow up, and/or acute) per day (appointments typically last 45-90 minutes each).
Any schedule changes will be coordinated with local access manager as well as the Mental Health Clinic Element Chief
Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
Internship/Residency: Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
Minimum of one year of supervised post-doctoral training providing services for children and adolescents.
Minimum of two years’ experience as a licensed clinical Psychologist providing psychological services for children and adolescents within the past 48 months
Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or US Virgin Islands.
Certifications: HCWs shall maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers in accordance with American Heart Association or in an equivalent course based on published national guidelines for BLS, which includes both learning and psychomotor skills portions. Web-based classes do not meet required standards.
