Certified Pharmacy Technician - Specialty Pharmacy

Your Role: Utilization of technical pharmacy and computer skills to assist call center-based processes. Provides customer service by answering phone requests and triaging calls to the appropriate person if they cannot answer the requested information. Requires knowledge of pharmacy and hospital processes and strong analytical skills in gathering information, identifying problems and assisting with resolution. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs activities as directed by Pharmacists &/or Pharmacy Managers in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
• Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Operates computer systems and utilizes technology.

Position Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience) (Required)
• Registered Pharmacy Technician (Required)
• Tennessee Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration. PTCB/CPT National Pharmacy Technician Certification. (Required)

Preferred :

• 6 months of Retail or Mail Order Pharmacy Experience

Position Shift:

• Day shift, Monday- Friday; No Required Weekends or Holidays

Department/Unit Summary:

The Department of Pharmaceutical Services provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care services to Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH), Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt (Children's Hospital), Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital (VPH) and The Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG).

This patient-centered service is provided through the Patient Care Center organization and clinic structure. The role of the Pharmacy is to promote safe and effective medication therapy for all patients and to provide oversight and leadership of the medication use system.
