The Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimer's Center seeks qualified applicants for a Community Outreach Manager. The manager will plan, develop and execute all outreach, engagement, and recruitment programs for the Center's clinical research portfolio under occasional guidance from the Center Director and Clinical and Outreach Core leadership. Responsibilities are focused on organizing and implementing community outreach, engagement, and public relations activities to recruit a diverse group of middle-aged and older adults for participation in Alzheimer's disease research with a focus on persons from underrepresented racial groups. The ideal candidate understands cultural challenges to recruitment and retention in the community, has experience in public health and health communication, is proficient in all Microsoft applications, has excellent organizational and leadership skills, has excellent attention to detail, and is able to master responsibilities quickly and independently while working well as part of an interdisciplinary team and with community partners

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the creation, coordination, and implementation of all community outreach, engagement, and public relations activities to recruit a diverse group of middle-aged and older adults for participation in Alzheimer's disease research with a focus on persons from underrepresented racial groups.
• Develop program budgets and allocate resources effectively.
• Train and supervise staff, trainees, and community volunteers who assist with the program's outreach activities, including monitoring quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures.
• Develop creative and innovative community engagement activities.
• Develop and deliver informative presentations and other promotional materials to community audiences
• Establish and maintain relationships with community medical facilities, community agencies, churches and other social programs in the urban area.
• Promote and describe community outreach activities in the Center's newsletter, website, and other media as appropriate.
• Work with community agencies and stakeholders to enhance recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups to Alzheimer's research and will attend community events to disseminate project information.
• Assist Center leadership with the creation and coordination of a Community Advisory Council.
• Conduct in-person and telephone-based screening of potential research participants and their study partners.
• Evaluate recruitment and retention activities and milestones, including providing updates at team meetings with table and figure summaries; developing program budgets and allocate resources effectively.
• Share best practices about outreach activities with other Centers, including the opportunity to present at conferences or meetings.
