Surgical Services Coord (FT) (Bedford Hospital)

Role Summary:

Coordinates system functions within Surgical Services related to the department. Oversees the performance of duties related to establishing and maintaining computer database files for personnel records, business forms, patient charges, statistical files, charge and revenue tables, charge codes, time and attendance records and all related information. The Surgery Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all of the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery schedule. Scheduler receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines. Scheduler provides accurate information so that all departments may view daily, and maintains open communication with hospital departments and physician offices regarding schedule changes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Billing and charge entry Lead for the Operating Room
• Assist in patient transport
• Ensure accuracy and efficient processing of charge entry
• Other data entry as needed
• Other clerical duties as assigned
• Schedules surgery procedures using EPIC
• Answers the phones in a professional and courteous manner
• Completes post-op data entry in a timely and accurate manner
• Posts surgical charges on a daily basis per established guidelines
• Completes daily surgical schedule and distributes as appropriate
• Posts the daily surgery schedule on the staff's assignment board
• Assures appropriate coordination with other hospital departments when special surgical needs occur
• Publishes an accurate daily call list and forwards to staffing department
