Since 2008, we have run child life programs in South Africa and, more recently, have developed a 4-week Child Life Practicum in Cape Town, which follows ACLP guidelines.
The program, which is led by Certified Child Life Specialists with decades of experience, including a past president of the ACLP, is one of the few international practicum experiences available to child life students and was a finalist for the GoAbroad Innovation Awards.
We are currently recruiting Certified Child Life Specialists to help supervise our 4-week Cape Town practicum programs this summer, between June and September. Related to COVID, these dates may be rescheduled for later this year.
We'll consider applications from Certified Child Life Specialists who can commit for at least 1 month, however we'll give preference to applicants who can commit for a minimum of 2 months. If you are not available between June and September but might be available during other times of the year, we still encourage you to get in touch, as we continue to expand program dates and locations.
Connect-123 covers all costs including airfare to Cape Town, housing, program-related travel, and an overnight safari together with the child life students. We also provide a monthly stipend.
