The candidate functions as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Mental Health Outpatient Services Treatment and Emergency Department. The position involves clinical and administrative duties. The candidate has specialized knowledge of psychiatric emergency diagnosis, intervention, and treatment. Candidate must be skilled in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence, sexual assault, child, elder, and dependent adult abuse, substance abuse, grief and bereavement, etc. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following: Provides direct patient care that may include psychiatric and/or substance abuse assessment for a variety of psychological/emotional diagnoses including substance abuse and/or Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Applies advanced professional social work methods and evidence-based intervention strategies to a full range of patient problems in the ED. Candidate has advanced knowledge of social work intervention and behavioral health that qualifies him/her to provide advice and consultation to professionals representing a variety of disciplines. Provides complex clinical services to clients with serious problems on a regular and continuing basis. Makes independent clinical decisions and recommendations for actions that can have serious impact on the lives of the people services, such as recommending inpatient treatment. Provides education and assist Veterans with Advance Directive. Consults with VA Regional Counsel for all private Advance Directives. Works effectively and cooperatively as a member of the multidisciplinary team by participating and documenting on multidisciplinary forms related to the assigned unit, ward, or program.
