Diagnoses and administers acupuncture to inpatients and outpatients; as well as staff and volunteers as available.
This position is physically located at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis and is a pediatric focused position.
Utilizes Traditional Chinese Medicine theory to asses Diagnoses and administers acupuncture and other Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments within their scope of practice, per state law, to patients in a safe and confidential manner.
Must be comfortable working with, and be knowledgeable about conventional medical terminology, diagnosis and therapies. Must consider Western medical treatments/procedures in health assessment, health care team communication, referrals, care planning and treatment.
Works closely with health care professionals to improve and track quality of care, customer satisfaction and outcomes.
Promotes and ensures safety and security within assigned areas.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
Maintain and follow standard quality, safety, environmental and infection prevention policies and procedures.
Stays up to date with continuing education, as required by law for licensure and for what is needed for this role, reads trade journals, and keeps up to date on industry practices and regulations.
Analyzes data or information for patient care, overall program and joint enterprise needs.
Maintain detailed and complete records of care plans in EHR and ensures appropriate billing procedures and coding, as needed and appropriate.
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Master's degree or higher in Acupuncture and/or Oriental
Experience(One or more of the following):
Internship with medically complex cases, inpatient and/or outpatient clinical experience
6 months of previous Acupuncture experience
Experience with medically complex cases, in patient and/or outpatient clinical experience
State Licensure in Acupuncture.
State Licensure to practice Oriental Medicine, if applicable.
Current Certification by National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
2-5 years of inpatient experience or experience with medically complex cases and/or outpatient clinical experience with medically complex cases
Pediatric experience, ideally with medically complex cases
