Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Associate - Human Genetics
DescriptionThe Slavotinek lab is seeking to add a postdoctoral research fellow/associate to the team. The research program in the Slavotinek laboratory is focused on investigating the genetic causes of birth defects and rare disease. We use exome sequencing and whole genome sequencing to investigate the genetic etiology of developmental eye defects in patients with absent eyes (anophthalmia), small eyes (microphthalmia) and early onset of cataracts. Gene variants are further studied using in vitro assays and zebrafish as an animal model system, utilizing CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing to model loss of function variants and CRISPR/Cas9 with homology directed repair to create specific sequence variants and to repair deleterious sequence variants. We also use 'bulk' RNA-Seq and s
