The Genetic Counselor is responsible for counseling pediatric patients and families with congenital and non-congenital heart and cardiovascular problems. Works with patients and families during sensitive situations related to diagnostic genetic testing and treatments. The Genetic Counselor is a member of the genetics team, under the direction of the Genetics physician(s), and empathetically supports families, working closely with the Cardiologists and other disciplines within the Florida Cardiac Center to serve as a resource related to genetic issues.
