Senior Child Life Specialist III, Full Time

The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department at Kravis Children’s Hospital is recruiting for an advanced clinical position that will provide opportunities for excellence in clinical growth, leadership and the development of innovative programming in this state-of-the-art environment.  This Senior Child Life Specialist III possesses advanced clinical skills and supports the therapeutic work of the Department by providing supervision and the coordination of Departmental programming.

The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department at the Kravis Children’s Hospital at Mount Sinai is a 30+ person program incorporating a wide range of therapeutic modalities with a strong emphasis on clinical supervision.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provides comprehensive child life services in the NICU as directed by the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Director
• Develops and assists with projects addressing the needs of patients and families, including the coordination of child life services in areas throughout the hospital
• Through leadership meetings, creates comprehensive strategic plans that ensure child life programming needs are routinely met (position recruitment, staff scheduling)
• Provides continuing cutting edge educational competency programs for child life staff
• Provides clinical supervision and management of assigned child life staff in scheduled supervision sessions, performance planning, and performance appraisals
• Participates in and/or facilitates clinical group supervision
• Confidently serves in leadership roles on identified committees and initiatives

Minimal Related Experience: 5 years experience working as a certified child life specialist in a pediatric healthcare setting. 

Educational Requirements: Master’s Degree Preferred.

General Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely manner. Work collaboratively and in a positive manner. Excellent service skills.
