The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) seeks to hire two Academic Professional Track (APT) Assistant Professors in Human Development & Family Studies (one 9-month – position #013800, one 12-month – position #002146) as instructors and advisors. We are seeking colleagues whose interests focus on teaching courses using both online (synchronous and asynchronous) and face-to-face formats and advising undergraduate students. The successful candidates should have experience with teaching at the university level (online and face-to-face course delivery) and working with undergraduate students from varied backgrounds in support of student success.
Responsibilities of these positions include:
Teaching a variety of HDFS undergraduate courses (4 and 4 teaching load during the regular academic year – or equivalent responsibilities supporting the undergraduate teaching mission of the department) in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative department.
Advising and mentoring students from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, generational, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Supporting the Department through institutional and professional service.
The 12-month position (#002146) will also have teaching and/or advising responsibilities during the summer months.
The positions have a start date of August 1, 2026.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Science, Education, or Arts degree (requirements completed by August 1, 2026) in Human Development and Family Studies, Child Development, Sociology, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field.
Documented teaching experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with multiple teaching modalities (face-to-face, online synchronous, online asynchronous) course development and delivery.
Experience in career/professional development which may include teaching, advising, consulting, mentoring, or training.
Demonstrated experience in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, generational, ability and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Doctoral degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Child Development, Sociology, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field.
