Participates in the orientation process of other patient care technicians. Participates in unit meetings and conferences. Completes annual mandatory education requirements for patient care technicians. Demonstrates an awareness of the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and different cultures. Assists in supporting unit activities as requested. Assists in emergency situations as directed. Utilizes specialized skills and safety when carrying out specific tasks of patient care as assigned, including phlebotomy, fingersticks for glucose, and electrocardiograms. Demonstrates understanding of infection prevention and control standards. Assists in data collection and activities as assigned.Assists in maintaining safety and comfort needs of patients and families.Assists with admission, transfer and discharge procedures per unit / service operations. Verbally and non-verbally communicates responsiveness and support to patients, families, and other staff. Observes general behavior and reports same to the registered nurse to whom assigned. Provides assistance to patients in the activities (listed in the Performance Standards by service/unit) as applicable. Completes delegated responsibilities as directed by the registered nurse. Uses a clear, caring and respectful communication style with patients and families, nurses and other members of the health care team. Functions as a respectful member of the health care team. Answers patients call lights promptly and effectively; completes patient requests for assistance with personal care and activity, and reports those requests not within the role of the patient care technician to the professional nurse assigned to the patient. Reports all observations concerning patients to the professional nurse responsible for the patient on a given shift Responds to requests for specific tasks as delegated by any registered professional nurse. Provides for security of patients personal property, and handles valuables according to hospital procedure. Maintains cleanliness of the nursing unit as appropriate to position. (i.e., utility room, unit refrigerators, etc.). Gives direct assistance to all team members, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, nursing attendants, patient unit clerks, escort, dietary and other health care employees. Assists in having patient ready for scheduled appointments including placing the patient on a stretcher or in a wheelchair. Runs errands to other departments, including but not limited to, the delivery of specimens and equipment. Assists in keeping patient environment, patient equipment and patient care areas/units clean, safe and orderly. Ensures that necessary equipment and supplies are present in the patient rooms and on the unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the NYULMCs Core Values and incorporates them into the performance of duties. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High school graduate or equivalent required. Patient Care Technician Certification through NHA required upon hire or transfer into the position. In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for all instruments exchange carts, par level carts, instrument sets, single peel packs, and emergency supplies meet established quotas both qualitatively and quantitatively. Delivers them to the surgical suites in a timely manner. Decontaminates, disinfects, test, adjust and assembles mobile patient equipment and assists in decontaminating designated surgical instrumentation. Inventories, orders and stocks medical disposable goods in storage areas and is responsible for the materials handling within the sterile processing area. Answers telephones, handles face to face interactions with internal and external customers and actively participate in continuous quality improvement process. Job Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned. Performs and documents quality assurance processes, and random sampling of products according to protocol. Incorporates infection control guidelines during the transferring, storing and transporting of sterile packages. Effectively enters, modifies and searches information in the instrument tracking system. Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization processes, documentation and delivery of sterile packages. Organizes and facilitates meetings, conferences, and other special events, identifies needed resources and arranging for required support (i.e. Technical, A/V, etc.). Organize logistic arrangements, including negotiating rates with vendors, coordinate itineraries and meeting materials as needed. Maintains and disseminates process documentation to participants and updates project plans accordingly. Manages complex time reporting, including preparing master time report for leadership approval. Researches any discrepancies and resolves pay and time-entry issues before presenting for approval. Reviews and monitors all changes for accuracy. Ensures accuracy of payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes. Researches and resolves questions from staff related to the processing of payroll information such as accruals, overtime and issues related to payroll. Acts as units designee for participation in payroll/timekeeping administration and policy committees. Collaborates with various NYUMC departments including but not limited to clinical engineering and logistics to obtain quotes from vendor. Exercise judgment as it relates to fiscal responsibilities, reviewing provided quotes before presenting to leadership for consideration. Ensures quote is forwarded to the appropriate parties for approval, prepares, processes and tracks all purchases and supplies for the unit. Assist with special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a A Bachelor&#39;s degree in public health, business administration, healthcare administration, communications, or related field. At least two years of previous experience in administering office operations and project coordination required, preferably in a healthcare setting. Supervisory experience required. Team-oriented, with excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills. Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint software; knowledge of internet applications. Must be creative, innovative, and detail-oriented and be able to apply the same level of effort into all assignments, regardless of scope. Ability to multitask, and to work successfully under pressure in a fast-paced environment; should be able to handle changing priorities quickly. Effective oral, written, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures, and to effectively communicate this information to a diverse population, in a comprehensive manner. Exceptional problem-solving and planning skills in working with colleagues, leaders, and administrators. Ability to exercise excellent judgment, and to assume responsibility for decision, consequences, and results. Self-motivated and results oriented. Preferred Qualifications: Master&#39;s degree is preferred. Experience working in large, complex organizations is a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills preferred.
