Provides Speech-Language Pathology evaluations, interventions and patient/family education under the prescription of a physician. Will establish and maintain appropriate documentation and communication with medical and clinical staff and outside agencies within the guidelines designated by state licensure, the department and Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.  Essential Functions Demonstrates competency in pediatric Speech Therapy in the care of patients aged birth to 18.  Able to provide speech therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed. Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards. Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member. Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional speech therapy program prior to discharge from therapy. Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services. Job Requirements   Master&#39;s degree in Speech Language Pathology or its equivalent from an ASHA-accredited university required. Minimum of three (3) to six (6) months experience required. New graduates will be considered based on educational experiences. State of Pennsylvania Speech Language Pathologist License or provisional/temporary license in speech-language pathology required upon hire. A second license (State of DE) will be required for all clinical positions. Must submit license or proof of application submission within 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment. All clinical staff will maintain dual licensure.  ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), or Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in-process with goal of achieving CCC-SLP within 10-12 months required.  Pennsylvania clearances are required upon hire. American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) required within 6 months of date of hire and must be maintained for duration of employment.  Member of professional specialty organizations (ASHA, State Speech &#38; Hearing Association) preferred.  Pediatric experience is preferred. Experience in feeding is preferred.  Experience with physically and/or mentally challenged populations preferred. Familiarity with speech and language development, deviation, and disorders. Familiarly with assessment scales and instruments, techniques of assessment and intervention with pediatric population.  Communicate care plans to interdisciplinary care teams and family members 
 
 
 Assess need for, develop, and deliver educational trainings for Network care teams on developmental care, coping mechanisms, distraction, parental engagement, therapeutic play techniques, etc. in an effort to improve the pediatric care experience

 Alexis &#8211; Child Life Leader 
 Alexis Steefel, MA, ATR-BC, is a registered and board-certified art therapist practicing at a children&#8217;s hospital, where they provide trauma-informed, developmentally attuned care to a diverse range of patient populations. Their clinical work spans general pediatrics, pediatric oncology, behavioral health admissions, and antepartum care, supporting both patients and families through complex medical and emotional experiences. 
 In addition to their clinical role, Alexis serves as a supervisor for a multidisciplinary team that includes child life specialists, child life assistants, recreational therapists, music therapists, and art therapists. She is dedicated to fostering collaborative, compassionate care environments and supporting professionals in integrative therapeutic practices. 
 Alexis is also a trained facility dog handler, incorporating animal-assisted interventions to enhance patient engagement, reduce stress, and promote healing across care settings.

The STP is an evidence-based treatment program for 7-11-year-old children with ADHD that is implemented in a summer day camp setting, including academic and art classrooms. The STP has strong research supporting its positive effects on the serious behavioral, social, and academic difficulties exhibited by children with ADHD. It is the only evidence-based, therapeutic summer setting designed specifically for children with ADHD in Central Pennsylvania. The average staff-to-camper ratio is 3:1. The Penn State STP is supported by the Philanthropic efforts of the Children?s Miracle Network which allows families to participate regardless of their income level.&#xa0; Teachers will lead academic and/or art activities for 12 to 15 children with ADHD in classroom settings. Classrooms are designed to improve the classroom behaviors of students using behavioral and academic instructional techniques outlined in a program manual. Counselors are also available to assist in the classroom as needed. The STP uses an established positive incentive program with each child?s counselor tracking their progress across the day, including in the classroom. This position is typically filled by individuals with teaching experience, ideally teaching elementary school-age students.&#xa0; This is a 20- to-30-hour per week position (Monday-Thursday, typically from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM). Pay is $35 per hour with some flexibility in work hours. The work location is TBD, but will within about 30 minutes of Hershey, PA&#xa0; MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S): Bachelor&#39;s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
