Performs echo and Doppler studies of the heart and major blood vessels for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Responsibilities: Is clinically competent to perform echocardiograms on adolescent, adult and geriatric patients using approved protocols. Performs stress echocardiograms and assists cardiologist with transesophageal echo (TEE). Performs 2D and M-mode Doppler studies of the heart. Performs calculation necessary to establish flow gradients. Communicates well with cardiologist and documents outcomes of testing. Keeps current in continuing education by attending seminars and/or teleconferences. Sets up, cleans and maintains equipment and keeps ready and safe to use. I
